Prepare and organize in advance
At least 3 months before
- Terminate the rental contract in good time.
- Check the rental property for possible repair work together with the landlord (for this, please contact your company representative who helped arrange or brokered the property).
- Organize and coordinate the moving date and repair orders.
- It is advisable to plan the return trip in advance and reserve a flight ticket. If you don't have one yet, we recommend applying for a frequent-flyer mileage card.
Change address and cancel contracts
- Change the billing address to the agency that can contact you after your move.
- Change your bank and insurance address.
- Inform the Korean embassy about the move (for Korean citizens).
- Inform school and kindergarten about the move.
Preparation before packing the moving goods
1 day – 1 month before
- Arrange the apartment handover with the landlord.
- Contact electricity, water, gas, telephone and tax companies; ask about any outstanding bills and settle them.
Keep valuables and important documents safe yourself.
- Deregister your vehicle and cancel the car insurance.
- Review which insurances need to be cancelled.
- Please pre-sort the goods to be packed or disposed of.
Please make sure all laundry is completely washed and dried beforehand.
- Empty and clean refrigerators, kimchi refrigerator and freezers, and unplug them 2 days in advance.
- Shut down computers and unplug the cables.
- Please do not pack the toolbox; it will still be needed often.
- Dispose of items restricted and prohibited by customs regulations, e.g. weapons, food, etc.
- Prepare garbage bags for waste disposal.
- Arrange a no-parking zone and, if necessary, inform the landlord about using the elevator.
Checklist on packing day
On packing day
- Please clarify in advance with the moving service team which items should be packed and which not.
- Please pack the toolbox only at the very end.
- Please note the corresponding person's name for each item on the packing list.
- Please make sure that all packed goods listed on the packing list are loaded into the container.
- Please check that no item was forgotten during loading.
